With such new schemes coming out, Bhopal seems to top the priority charts when the talk’s about the development of smart city take place. Let us understand what smart city is: the smart city is a city which has excellent infrastructure, clean and sustainable environment, and good quality of human life. Here modern techniques are used to deal with different things. The smart city has a perfect combination of both man and machine.
Bhopal seems to be positively marching towards the government’s developmental plans of making a smart city.
Total 98 cities have been listed under development of smart cities program out of which Bhopal being the one who has completed the first phase of its program. There will be two areas which would go through such progressive development plan out of which one being an area near TT Nagar stadium and second being Dussehra Maidan. The highest expenditure is planned to be done near TT Nagar stadium.
The main initiative being the construction of government housing facilities which would be the first area based development plan. The municipal Corporation of Bhopal also seems to be preparing a Smart City Proposal (SCP) to get on the list of top 20 Smart Cities of India. The proposal will have to go through the further scrutiny of the central government to get the fund for Rs 100 crores which could be withdrawn over the period of next five years. The work now is in full swing where the tender for 350-acre area development plan is to be passed soon. Simultaneously an agency has been appointed to do the soil testing for those areas as construction is expected to flag off soon. While municipal Corporation of Bhopal has been asking for suggestions from residents and stakeholders over things like electricity, sewage, water supply, schools, colleges etc. so this could help them achieve and deliver the project in a possible way.
Bhopal Smart City Development Corporation Limited (BSCDCL) is expected to deliver around 3,000 houses in the first phase. Another project is expected to deliver somewhat around 2,500 homes where the project is being funded by AMRUT concentrating on providing 30 percent houses to poor. There will be around demolition of 1600 government houses which includes 270 houses occupied by government employees in the North TT Nagar. The demolition does not mean uplifting the people residing in the houses it means the development of houses will happen in the 'free and empty spaces'.
These complete new changes of conversion of Bhopal into smart cities will surely result in a tremendous growth of real estate market in the entire area.
