Few investment firms like Asian Development Bank, European investment bank, and New development bank have come forward and showed interest in funding the project.
Project for Indore
The proposed project will be a ring line with 30 stations. It will start from Bengali Square; will pass through Vijaya Nagar, Bhawarshala, Airport Road and Palacia. The project is estimated to cost around Rs 7,500 crore and will offer connectivity to the city’s bus terminus, railway station and airport. Though the centre has only approved one route, the idea for five other routes has been proposed too. The other proposed routes will connect the city’s economic zones like Pithampur which is often regarded as the Detroit of the Madhya Pradesh.Project for Bhopal
The centre has approved two corridors- Karond Circle to AIIMS and Bhadbhada Square to Ratnagiri Square. The project for both the corridor is estimated to be around Rs 6,500 crore and will pass through the city centre. The proposed idea has made sure that it provides the connectivity to the city’s railway station and bus depot. Other four routes have been proposed and will provide the connectivity of the suburban towns to the prime locations of Bhopal.The approval has come amidst the preparations for the Assembly elections. The goal of the project is to provide affordable, safe, secure and reliable means of transportation in the city which can help in reducing traffic, pollution, travel time, and accidents. It also aims to regulate urban expansion and land use for sustainable development.
The government has already rolled out the tender for the first civil work package, and the work will be starting soon.
