With so much to choose from, a security camera is one of the key component of home security system. It is a system comes in many types with a multitude of feature, where the main prototype can be divided in two main categories – a) Wired Security System, b) Wire free security system. Though the similarity and differences sometimes confuse the homeowners, buyers should carefully weigh the pros and cons of both types of security cameras before making a purchase. Where the choice is ultimately based on personal priorities, as well as pricing. Here are some key points as guided by Ar. Onal Kothari :

  1. Wireless Security cameras are easy to install
Considering its user friendly interference, these are simple security systems which can be easily installed by the home owners themselves. They do not need drilling like wired systems and the wifi system enables the user to operate everything from far.
  2. Wired Security camera cannot be hacked
Wired security cameras usually requires professionals for installations and are hardwired to the indoor and outdoor areas. Alike wirelesssecurity systems which can be hacked easily sue to signal interruption, these system do not suffer from signal interference and cannot be hacked remotely.
  3. Wireless systems provides high quality recordings
Wifi based security cameras produce significantly higher quality of audio and visual footages andrecordings than wired models. However many companies had launched better features in wired system as well, but the match is still missed.
  4. Wired security cameras can be used offline
Wired cameras, as they do not rely on a signal, transmitter, and receiver to record and feed images, are less likely to be subject to interference. Instead, during power cuts, the images are likely to still compressed and transferred as data packets via the cables, and go directly into the monitor or recording device through battery backups. While wireless security camera system have to be concerned about their mobile charging, radio frequencies, or bad weather conditions causing signal loss.
  5. Wireless systems are easy to shift from place to place
Because of the professionally concealed, trailing cables, the wired cameras get fixed at one place after installation and cannot be easily moved or repositioned. But in case of wireless systems, they are much easier to move and rearrange cameras.Making it a special recommendation for rental place.
  6. Wired cameras can be cheaper with no subscriptions
If you need multiple cameras, the cost per camera is usually cheaper with wired camera systems. With a wired camera system, there's no need to pay for a monthly or yearly subscription at all. Some Wi-Fi cams offer a completely subscription-free experience, but a large handful of them require you to pay a monthly or yearly fee in order to get access to all of the features, including the ability to save video recordings to view later on.
  7. Wireless can gives you alternative options
Aside from standard circular design security camera mounted on height, a wireless system can be seen in two more formats – like Internet Protocol cameras or Hidden camera. The internet protocol (IP) cameras are the webcams , which can be remotely monitored , provides ability to rotate the camera head and change the position of camera lens anytime. Whereas hidden cameras can be beautifully crafted in any shape like – stuffed animal or hidden within plants or bookshelf.
  8. Time storage that matters
With new features coming up in the market every alternate day, the time limit of storing your video can be extended as per your purchased system or wifi subscriptions. Where most wired camera setups will store video for around 7-14 days. With wifisecurity , there is plenty of time to look back on any event and save it permanently with a backup of at least 30-day time period. Anyhow, You'll still get 24/7 recording in both the systems, with the ability to view past recordings whenever you want, because it's all can be stored.
  9. Connectivity Range
Wired system are connected via cable system which enables them to stay connected without any hassle and distraction caused by weather, brickwork etc. While the wireless cameras must be located within the home wifi range or say receiver range.
