Believe it or not, growing vegetables in your garden is not as hard as it used to be in earlier days. Some people have been doing in since very long time. Efforts and knowledge mixed and stirred well can help in producing suffice amount of vegetables in your garden. Before the practical exposure and field experience, let's get familiar with the basics of growing tasty andhealthy vegetables with adequate care :

  1. Conditions
    Everything grows rapidly when provided with favourable environmental conditions, vegetables which requires almost alike surroundings to grow would be a great combination to start with in accordance with the season. Elements like exposure to the sun, water consumption, fertility of land are among the things which should be well thought before going for the picking on plants. There should never be too many of plants as with their growth the maintenance of each planet will get difficult and it will become inconvenient for both you and your plants as neglection will cause negative impact on vegetables.
  2. Start from Seed or Buy Plants
    The options we get in some plants are either to go with seeds or go with a sapling. Except the seasonal impact on vegetables, there are some restrictions and variety of plants to pick from. The seeds offer greater variety over seedlings. Some plants grow ideally if their seed is implanted in soil instead of sapling. The sapling takes less duration to turn mature.
  3. Garden Design
    Before planning to put your comfortable chairs in or facing the garden. All the vegetables should be planted in accordance with suffice space and their optimal growing requirements. The pathway and splitting of root space should be considered while designing an aesthetic garden.
  4. Small SpaceVegetable Garden
    There are several easy ways to make the most of your vegetable garden space.Not all types of vegetables can be planted at once, if forced, the produced vegetables will not serve much of a purpose of growing it. Some vegetables are produced in limited amount with every nourishment, some fades away in too much sunlight, some without it. By planting according to seasonal demands, one can achieve healthy home grown vegetables with limited space.
  5. Container Gardening
    Beside the freedom in choosing the soil content, water drainage, container vegetable gardening have much more advantages like the free mobility to move plants as per wish or reasons. The pests face hard time reaching the plants thus increasing the security. The amount of soil, water can be adjusted by considering the different types and volume of pots.
  6. Maintenance
    A vegetable garden requires regular maintenance. Tasks like staking and mulching can be done early while watering should be done just to suffice. If not taken care properly, no matter how well a seed is implanted it will not turn into a healthy plant. Pest control can also be done if some damaged is observed. Though, it should be kept as a last resort as it takes away the 'organic' element of the vegetables.
  7. When to Harvest Vegetables at Peak?
    Vegetables should be harvested as per the season and requirement with calculated time frame for plants to grow healthy.For a healthy harvest, it is advisable to have plants as per the climatic conditions of your geographical period. For Example – Spinach harvest way organic in February, March and October , while august and September are dedicated to Carrots. It varies for North India and South India as well.
