- Dishwasher Detergent
The quantity of dishwater detergent is as important as its quality, adding extra detergent to the dishwasher won't clean the dishes further but it can leave a thin film on the dishes making them unhygienic and unhealthy to eat from. The dishwasher detergent should be used in adequate amount in right direction. - Overfilling
Overcrowding the dishes can damage the dishes as they will bump into each other and prevent dishes from getting clean properly. Space should be used in optimised manner in the dishwasher but there should be a safe space between every dish for proper cleaning. - Too Much Food
The modern era dishwashers can scrub off the residue food with ease without any prewash, but even the unrivalled dishwasher can't remove if too much food content is left on the dishes. For the longer and smoother functioning of the dishwasher, food should be scrapped before cleaning them in dishwashers. - Non-Dishwasher Safe Items
With all the advancements, not every item can be cleaned by dishwasher. Some items are just not supported by dishwasher for cleaning. Items made up of wood, copper, exquisite glassware, cast-iron and all other non-dishwasher safe items shouldn't be inserted in the dishwasher. Wooden items can crack and split under the exposure of dishwasher's temperature, humidity and water content.Delicate glassware can break inside the dishwasher which can severely damage the dishwasher as well. Few metals mentioned above can get damaged as well as cause damage to other dishes put with it. - Top Rack vs. Bottom Rack
Dishwasher-safe only dishes are concerned with which rack that are put in, wrong placement of shelf may break, melt dishes. Most dishes like pots, plates, pans utensils are properly cleaned when placed in bottom shelf. Glass, oversized serving utensils, bowls, cups should be properly placed on top shelf. - Blocking the Sprayer
The sprayer in dishwasher makes cycles to reach every corner of the dishwasher. For the best cleaning, the full range of sprayer should be clear and unblocked. Any large size pan or bowl should be carefully placed so that it doesn't block the path of sprayer as that will result in unwashed and dirty dishes. - Nesting Utensils
Nesting utensils is the specific arrangement of utensils like forks and spoons with alternate pointing of each utensil. For safety purposes, knives should always placedpoint downward.Forks and spoons are normally nested together randomly making it hard for proper cleaning as the residue of food remains encrusted with food particles. - Partially Filled
The water and detergent should always be adequately filled in the dishwasher. Even when partially filled dishwasher appears as a better idea than an overloaded one, it increases the possibility of dishes breaking by bumping into each other with more force and wastes resources like electricity. Water, detergent and dishes should be as per the capacity of the dishwasher to avoid any damage or waste. - Dishwasher Maintenance
The maintenance of dishwasher should be regulated as per the instructions given in the user manual in every once in a while. The cleaning of dishwasher is easy. The dishwasher can be freshened and cleaned by running it with one and half cups of vinegar mixed with a cup of baking soda. - Unloading
The top rack of the dishwasher containing cups and bowls may store water from washing cycle. When removed first, the water will splash on the clean dishes in bottom rack. Unloading of bottom rack should always be done before top rack.
