Are you thinking of making some changes to your interiors but confused about where to start? With multiple options in hand, it becomes hard to make a decision. Onal Kothari makes this task easier for you with few useful tips.
- Firstly shortlist the room and decide what you want to use the room for. Now create a focal point around that. For example, if you want to use the area as your living room, you could make the sofa in the room as your focal point or use a large piece of artwork as a focal point. Similarly a large mirror in the room will also do the trick. Once you find the focal point, start decorating around it.
- Secondly you can follow the odd number rule. Either group objects in varying heights, shapes and textures. This gives a harmonious feel to the space and is visually appealing as well.
- Lights play a significant role in a space. Instead of having light coming from a single source create multi-articulated light source by selection of lights as per your room mood. Wall mounted lights with a large floor lamp for your reading space is one good example.
- A simple way to help you decide the right colours for your room is to start with the item you love the most. It could be an artwork or sofa. Once you have decided this, choose a colour that blends with the item.
- Put your unique finds and artifacts on display. You must have invested considerable time and energy in selecting it so go ahead and flaunt it.
- Paint your space with geometrical lines. Horizontal lines make a room appear wider or longer and vertical lines lift the eye upward. Sometimes the entire interiors appear taller or higher. In short, this is the best way to stretch the room.
- Mirror makes a room sparkle and gives a bright attitude to a space. Nevertheless, a well-placed mirror also enlarges the room size by creating illusions and glorifying the highlights.
- Be generous with small areas. Eye-catching pocket areas create magic.
