8 cues to extracting maximum benefit from waterbodies

Water is one of the five elements that govern vastu and fengshui. When placed properly, it can enhance opportunities and career success; and if placed in the wrong zone, it can have an adverse effect. Expert Rashi Gaur tells us how to use this element to extract maximum benefit.
1. Vastu says that by placing a flowing water feature, such as a waterfall or a fountain in the North zone of the house or your office, you can increase career opportunities in your life. Make sure that it is switched on at least a few hours each day.
2. A waterbody in the East enhances growth and imparts good health.
3. If you plan to have a swimming pool in the house, North and East are perfect zones. A pond in the garden in these two zones is another way to enhance the prosperity quotient in your life.
4. Another wonderful way to enhance the good energies is by placing an aquarium in the house, either in the East or North again. The living room is the best zone for an aquarium. So if you have a living room in the above two zones and you like fish as pets, go ahead. Just make sure that because they are living beings, keep them healthy if you do bring them home. Keep the water clean at all times and feed them well. Remember, you are attaching your karma to them. So only have an aquarium in the house only if you are willing to give it your time and love.
5. Underground and ground level water tanks should also be placed in the North, North East and East zones of the house.
6. Feng shui says that South East is the zone of wealth. The element that governs South East is wood and placing a water feature here can help you amass wealth. However, in vastu shastra, South East is a zone of fire. Hence the best way to enhance this zone is by placing a lava lamp. It creates water like waves and is a perfect symbol to have here to increase the luck of properties and finance.
7. In the current period of eight, which will last till 2024, placing a yin water symbol in the South West zone is also beneficial in bringing prosperity and luck to you. However, refrain from placing a yang water body here. A symbol of water, such as a water wave made out of crystal, or vases in blue are a perfect way to enhance this zone.
8. While placing the water bodies in your house, do remember that it is a taboo to place them inside bedroom. Living rooms, drawing rooms, balconies, courtyards, gardens – these are perfect zones to place them.
