Poor ventilation in homes is the main cause for illnesses. Therefore keeping the house ventilated is a very important factor for one’s health. Let’s take a look at a few tips to keep the house properly ventilated.
- The first and most important step towards ventilation is cleanliness. Ensure the floors are clean, swept and mopped regularly because dust causes lot of diseases.
- Check your kitchen appliances and get them serviced as and when required to prevent any leakage of gas which will pollute the air indoors and cause harm to the inhabitants.
- Dust tends to accumulate on curtains, carpets, etc. Make sure these are cleaned because this will pollute the air quality and lead to sickness.
- Let fresh air in by keeping the windows open. This ensures cross ventilation as well. The height of windows also ensures air movement. Make sure windows are approximately at a height of 3.6 feet to reduce the load of heat on ceilings.
- To boost movement of air it is important to have open spaces like balcony, garden, etc near your home.
- If you have an exhaust fan in the bathroom, it will help you keep germs, illnesses and bad odour at bay and in turn help improve air quality.
- Ensure that your air-conditioners are serviced regularly. These appliances greatly impact the quality of indoor air.
