Window seat adds design element to a space. Interior designer Sneha Samtani reveals how to optimize your space with this unique furniture option.
- If you have a rectangle shape passage or corridor overlooking the garden area, this is the ideal location for a window seat. This cosy place is just perfect to start your day or relax, unwind or read staring at nature with this sill.
- Another way to enhance your window seat is to have pullout trolleys under the seating area. This adds a unique charm to the space.
- Instead of sliding windows you can have a single glass window near your window seat. Throw away some cushions and add wind chimes. The soothing sound of wind chimes when the wind is in play will calm the ambience in the space.
- To accessorize your window seat, you can create a mattress using leftover or excess fabric like curtain fabric. Alternatively, you can create a patchwork for Indian seating. Use plain colours on cushions if you have a colorful mattress or keep the cushions colourful and mattress plain. This is a cost-effective option.
- Make sure you use horizontal blinds near your window sill so that your view does not get obstructed.
