Windows are almost as important as doors to allow good energies in the house. Vastu and feng shui consultant Rashi Gaur lists few factors to keep in mind while designing or planning the placement of windows in order to enhance the luck factor, as per both vastu shastra and feng shui.
1. The number of windows in the house should not be too many or few. If there are too many windows, the energy will be very restless and you would find it difficult to relax in a house like this. If there are fewer windows, the energy will become stagnant and eventually gloomy and negative. The best way to decide on the number of windows is to follow the ratio of 3:1 (windows:doors) and avoid having windows on more than two walls in a room.
2. Different types of windows attract energy in different zones.Windows that open outside bring more auspicious energy into the house than windows opening inside. Sliding windows do nothing to enhance the luck factor. If you must have them, make sure that they have a solid dark frame around them to make them stand out from the wall. Similarly, tall rectangular windows represent growth energy and are best suited for East, South East and South zones. Wide rectangular or square windows represent earth energy and hence are more suited to South West, West, North West and North East zones. Round windows are synonymous with metal energy and hence suitable for North, North West and West zones.
3. The prints on curtains and blinds, when used according to the five elements, can really enhance the luck factor. Wavy water like pattern is best suited in the North zone, rectangular pattern in the East and South East, triangular pattern in the South, square pattern in the South West and North East and circular prints in the West and North West are ideal to bring you good luck from all directions.
4. Keep the windows clean and clear and make sure that the curtains and blinds are drawn open at least once each day to let in a fresh dose of energy via sun and air.
5. While deciding on the placement of windows, it is vital to ensure that no windows are placed behind the bed headrest else you will suffer sleepless nights. Make sure that windows are not directly opposite to the entry door of any room otherwise any good luck that comes in through the door will go right out of the window.
6. Bedroom windows should have thick blinds or curtains that can cut off the outside environment when it is time to rest.
