Windows are primarily the source of natural light coming into the space and thereby demand attention. It connects the exterior with the interior. So the dressing up of windows becomes integral from a design perspective. If the view is less than enchanting, it becomes crucial to give the space privacy from the outside world. When windows are dressed up correctly, it tends to elevate the space around it. Sapna Khakharia Gohil, Director, Design, ANJ Group, lists the factors to keep in mind while dressing up windows.

  1. Firstly ensure that you do not dress up your windows heavily as it will block natural light from entering the space.
  2. Feel free to experiment with your window dressing. Also, try to personalize it as much as possible.
  3. Try to avoid any kind of complicated or difficult to use fixtures as part of your window dressing. The functionality of these fixtures should be given prime importance.
  4. Heavy fabrics that cannot be cleaned easily should not be used near windows that gather dust easily.
  5. If your aim is to adjust the temperature, then you can opt for thick coverings.
  6. For windows that are not shaped or placed accurately, add attractive details to it to make it the centre of attention.
