A boy’s room decor is generally associated with sports or musical instruments like guitar, keyboard or drums. Shami Goregaoker, Project Manager and design strategist, GA design gives simple ideas to decorate your boy’s room with his favourite sport theme.
1. Cricket, football, tennis, hockey, basketball, badminton – with so many sports it may be hard to pick a favourite for your décor theme, but representing them all in one space is a challenge in itself. One way is by zoning, which means highlighting a different sport in various areas of the room. For example, feature cricket on the wardrobe, then transition into football on the study area. If you prefer an integrated design, feature only select accessories from each sport that have common elements like balls in football and basketball or rackets in badminton, tennis and squash.
2. If the child has a favourite sport which he likes to play and watch, then he is also likely to have a couple of favourite sportsmen too. You could have large posters of the sports star which could be laminated into the wardrobe shutters. There could also be a little corner to display all the memorabilia related to the sport.
3. Alternately, if the child is a fan of a football team for example, then the décor of the room could revolve around the colours of that team. You could also fill the space with pennants, logos, posters and jerseys of the favourite team.
4. If your son has his own trophies and medals that he has won for a sport, displaying those should form an important feature. These along with autographed and rare pieces should occupy a place of honour by keeping the rest of the décor subtle.
5. Most important of all, keep your son’s spirit high when he walks into the room and has his friends over for an entertaining evening.
