Sink is an important aspect of a kitchen. Vishal Raman, Head of Sales, Franke Faber India, lists the different features to consider before your purchase a sink.

  1. Shape: Consider the shape of the sink before you purchase one. If you have enough space then you can opt for double bowl sinks. Sinks with round corner are easy to be installed. For installing this sink, a plumber, putty and seals are all you need. Clips are not required. As round corner sinks are designed with single piece molded design, the possibilities of leakage is very minimal. Single molded design can be replaced easily as well in less than 30 minutes.
  2. Features: Look for features like choke stop strainers. These helps in draining stuff easily. Plastic guards are provided by some brands. It helps to save water and keep the draining system intact. Draining kit is another feature you should look out for as it helps in preventing clogging the pipes. Waste coupling ensures that thick garbage does not enter the sink pipes.
  3. Finishes: You can choose from different finishes. Glossy, satin, linen or anti-scratch are some of the options available. Glossy gives shine as bright as a mirror. For a rich and smooth look, there is satin look and linen or anti-scratch finish have dotted surface that prevents from scratches.
  4. Material: There are several options available for countertop and backsplash. You can choose according to your preference and aesthetic appeal.
  5. Budget: If you are on a budget, opt for self-rimming sinks as these are cheaper. Its manufacturing cost is also low.
