With container gardening so much in trend, people look out for beautiful pots and plants to decorate their homes. Container pots are easy to plant and maintain throughout the season. Also, they require less space to be mounted and make your gardening space look more beautiful with seasonal summer plants along the row. Harpreet Ahluwalia of Earthly Creations shares the plants that you can use for container gardening area as it is beneficial for people residing in flat and apartments where one does not get enough ground space to bloom their flower beds.
1Calendula:
These are adaptable and do not require a lot of maintenance. Roots will often tend to adapt to the space provided. The pot marigold can be grown in containers or beds in full sun to shade conditions for the perfect bloom. As Calendula requires cool temperatures to grow, flowers last longer in filtered sun or shady areas.
2Petunia:
This flower blooms throughout the summer season. Some of its varieties will require frequent dead heading while some need to be pruned back to continue setting flower buds. Extreme hot conditions can cause petunia plants to stop setting flowers until the temperature drops.
3Sweet William:
Can tolerate slight shade but otherwise requires sunlight to grow. The soil for this flower should be rich with nutrients. It is best if the soil is left loose and well drained. Maintain the soil quality in such a way that it remains moist to slightly dry. Seeds can also be sown directly in the flower pot early in the season. Cover the seeds with one-eighth inch of soil and water thoroughly, but do not over water otherwise the plant will die.
4Viola:
Primarily, this is a winter season blooming plant. They are perfect for starting and ending the season in colder climates and for bridging the seasons in warmer zones, where they can remain in bloom throughout the harsh winter season. It is essential to know when to plant violas. This factor will depend on your climate conditions as it varies from region to region.
5Caladium:
This plant can be grown in any region as an indoor or outdoor plant, but take care to keep them outdoors only when the night time temperature is 60 degrees and above. One of the best things about Caladium is that they need to get sunlight. Also, keep it moist.
