Diwan is one of the most common and necessary furniture that is found in every home. The term is referred to a couch cum bed or a bench sofa with storage or sofa with a unique design. It can be used to sleep at night or for sitting purpose during the day apart from using it for storage purposes. The diwans are must-have furniture for every Indian home. Mohit Mishra, Founder, Urban Upgrade Interiors, reveals the different kinds of diwans that you can choose according to your purpose and preferred design.
- The couch diwan: This is a perfect fit for a studio apartment or a person residing alone. It has a narrow sitting design with couches. Use it for sitting purpose or even to take a small power nap.
- Sofa-cum-bed diwan: Known for multipurpose usage, this one looks like a sofa but is foldable and can be converted into a bed when required. These are also good for smaller rooms and can easily fit into a small space. So if you have guests then these diwans can be used as an extra bed.
- Window diwan: If you have space near the window go ahead and convert it into a diwan. You can create storage cabinets under the sitting area. Decorate the sitting space with nice coloured cushions.
- Swing diwan: Suitable for big balconies, a swing balcony can give a different look to your entire home decor. Make sure that the swing diwan is well harnessed and can take the necessary weight for someone to sit or just lie down.
- Kid’s diwan: This kind of diwan is very useful for children’s room. You can make a diwan next to the wall which will be safe for children to sleep. Make a good storage space underneath. But be sure that these diwans are at a height so that children can easily climb up and down.
