Tiling is the most popular choice for flooring in homes due to its durability and ease of maintenance. Tiles can add warmth and beauty to any room. The colour of tiles and way you install them can alter the way a room looks. Shami Goregaoker, Project Manager and design strategist, GA design, brings to you unique ways to add tiles in small spaces.
- To make a small room appear big, use bigger tiles so that fewer joints are visible, giving it a cleaner and seamless look.
- You can also try the camouflage effect. All you have to do is match the grout colour to the tile so the joints are less prominent.
- Another way to make your room look bigger is to use light coloured tiles, preferably with less prints or patterns because it makes the room look very busy.
- One more trick to visually alter the appearance of a tiny room is to lay tiles diagonally across the room. This technique makes the tiles look bigger and your room appears more expansive.
