Hanging artwork seems to be a very easy task. Rishiraj Sethi, Director, Aura Art reveals the different measurements to keep in mind before you hang your artworks.
- While hanging a painting over a piece of furniture, look for artworks between 65 – 85 % of the furniture’s width. Anything bigger will make your furniture look small; anything smaller will leave too much blank space.
- If you are working on an empty wall, use the 3/8 rule. The empty space on either side of the artwork should cumulatively be three-eighths of the width of the painting.
- While hanging an artwork, ensure that there is a distance of 58 inches from the floor to the artwork’s centre.
- Leave a gap of 8 – 10 inches between the bottom of the artwork and the furniture; hanging the artwork too high will leave your room feeling unanchored.
