It is an indisputable fact that indoor plants make your living space more lively while infusing cleaner air and adds that extra class to the home interiors.Placing a plant in a boring plastic container with an equally ugly looking plastic tray underneath is so passé. Investing in attractive indoor plant display is the norm today. So, here are some creative ways in which you can decorate your home with indoor plants by Myna Batavia, Founder, Green Carpet:

  1. Vertical green walls are quite the rage. However, one doesn't have to invest heavily in a vertical green wall system to get a living wall in your house.Use planter boxes in different shapes and sizes which can be fixed on the wall and create a tapestry of plants and convert the wall into a feature wall.
  2. Provide stands in either wood or metal coloured gaily in varying heights to provide different levels of planting.
  3. Instead of a predictable showcase that houses useless knickknacks, create a display case only for plants. Fill it with different shaped pots in colours that match your décor and showcase your plants.
  4. Use your tall side table to display a cluster of potted plants.
  5. Select pots which complement the size and shape of the plants because the more beautiful the pots, the more beautiful the plants look.
  6. Staircases are ideal spots to display potted plants.
  7. Bring in a large leafed plant such as a fig plant or fishtail palm plant and place it as an accent plant in the living room. It becomes a conversational piece and the center of attention.
  8. Design the entire living space in white including the tiles, furniture and furnishing. Now, bring in the greenery to accentuate the plant colour.
  9. Use quirky pots such as animal planters, coffee mugs, paint cans and place them with plants in kitchens or your work area to provide visual relief.
  10. Convert a succulent dish garden into a coffee table to grab attention.
  11. Fill the ceiling with hanging pots filled with ferns.
  12. Your bathrooms can become a greenhouse with plants on the window sill and on the counter tops.
  13. You don't need a ton of greenery to make the place go green. It finally boils down to how you arrange and display the plants.

So, go ahead and indulge in a dash of creativity and madness and soak in the greenery in the confines of your house!
