Forget matching style or choosing between contemporary, rustic, traditional or any other theme. Decorate your room with different furniture styles, colours and patterns. Interior designer Deeksha Khatree gives some easy tricks to get the modern and rustic look for your home.
- Open floor plan with modern furniture and exposed lighting with large windows, bringing the outdoors in, plays an important role in the modern rustic theme.
- Timber tables with cane sofas in the verandah add a sense of age and texture to the area.
- For the family room, paint walls in cedar green, blue and then decorate with showpieces that bring in the old world charm. To soften the colour effect on the walls, frame them in white.
- Wooden dining table with modern chairs or acrylic chairs and a refined light chandelier above it will also look great. .
- To create a rustic modern look, never forget the ceiling. Treat the ceiling with either raw wood or expose the beams.
- In the drawing room, club your modern super scaled sofas with an antique table.
- For the bedroom, treat one wall with natural brick texture and paint it with magnetic colour (brown, beige etc.) and club with rustic furniture. A walnut window seat with metal base in the bedroom creates a beautiful natural sit out.
- To add a rustic feel to your modern bathroom, a salvaged furniture piece can be used as a vanity. This brings an interesting twist to your bathroom.
- Stairs made of wood with metal railing looks nice. This holds functional value as each stair step can be used as a drawer. An extra storage can be created this way.
- For upholstery, use simple fabric without prints as this is a safe choice to achieve a rustic modern look.
