Spruce up your home to get into the festive mood. Interior designer Sneha Samtani lists creative ways to decorate your house and get into the Christmas mood.
- You can start with the red and white theme. Use red and white colour in different forms like red and white candles. A red rug in your living room is another option. Put red petals or a candle in a square glass jar, and place this in the corridor or the centre table. This can also be used to organize a candle light dinner during this festival with guests and family. Hang red and white Santa stockings on the window. This gives a Christmas feel to the kids. The bed can also be done up in a red and white theme. For example, you can have white bed sheet, a red runner and cushions in red and white.
- Glass bottles painted in Christmas colours (red, white and green) can be hung in the verandah or courtyard. To give it a distinct look, tie a bow on the bottle cap. Chairs in your courtyard can be dressed in green and white to get the Christmas feel.
- Deck up the refrigerator with colourful covers and fridge magnets with a Christmas theme.
- Of course, there's nothing like a Chritmas tree to get the spirit going. Very good faux varieties are available in the market, and so are a slew of tree ornaments.
- Put a candle diffuser on the floor to enliven the washroom. Place red and white candles for a good feel.
- If you have organized a party, you can have fortune cookies with message or Christmas wishes for everyone with red and white wrappers.
- Fabric streamers with colourful patchwork will look great when hung on the main entryway and across archways of doorways.
- String up Christmas greeting cards and hang them up in any room.
- Decorate your house with wreaths and lights on the doors or the windows and add some artificial snow flakes along with your white lace curtains which can help you fake a white Christmas theme.
- Hang a star at your balcony. This gives a soft glow to the balcony and illuminates the space at night.
