  1. Before you move : Prepare and Consult a vet
The first step in helping your dog , cat or bunny for shifting is to Prepare. No matter how near or far you are moving, just like kids, introduce the idea to your pets. Consult your pet's veterinary doctor for any health or behavioural changes your pet might go through. Don't forget to get a prescription of medicines for any emergency.
  2. For moving day : Assign a pet sitter
Be sure to provide a safe and emotional bonded move to your pet. Pick your pet's favourite and responsible family member as a dedicated in-charge of taking care of everything your pet might need during the whole shifting process. Remember, assign only that person who won't be involve in any packing, unpacking or other duties on moving day.
  3. Pamper : IntroduceNew accoutrements
Be sure to introduce your little bundle of joy with his/her new accoutrements. Bring your pet's favourite bed, crate, toys, food treats and other familiar items.Favorites will help your pet minimize anxiety, feel in control and at home more quickly. Let your pet explore their new carrier and belongings long before you shifting day, so they get used to it before the moving day.
  4. Check : New surrounding
Take a tour of your new neighbourhood.Learn about any aggressive animals in the locality, or any structural risks in the new home or anything which can harm your pet. Figure out the walkways and sniffing places to release out their digestion. If living in a society, it is equally important to introduce your new building with your pet.
  5. The moving day Checklist :
Give your pet the attention he/she is used to. Keep all their belonging packed in a backpack , available any time they need , which includes : Their food, treats , toys , water, disposable litter boxes, pet medicines and first aid kit, towels and a warm hug .
  6. On moving day : Transport
Depending upon how far and near you are moving , you would be travelling by three means of transport :
  1. Travelling by Car : For a car transport, find a appropriate seating arrangement for your pet along with pet sitter and little belongings. Keep an eye on pet behaviour and ensure that they do not move their head outside the window. Take short breaks for a control movement.
  2. Travelling by rail : Indian railways has a dedicated air conditioned first class coaches where pet can be moved with the family or you can transport them along with the luggage in brake van of the train, in case of any objection subjected by co passengers. Remember, its an owner responsibility to take care of pet in brake van or you can also allot a guard coach.
  3. Travelling by air : Not every airplane allows your pet to travel along, but many give the privilege to be the host for your small pup or kittens. Similar to the railways , Airlines requires your pet to be well trained, gave separate cabins and do ask for additional charges.
