- The room – Before buying any art consider your room size, furniture in room, think about your ceilings are they high or low. These factors help in deciding whether we should go for bigger frames or landscape frames etc.
- The wall – Consider overall dimensions of the wall along with its orientation. For narrow walls portrait or vertical artwork is best .Horizontal walls are often found over sofas and bed. On horizontal walls landscape paintings are finest. In looking to the overall wall space dimensions artwork should take up 60 to 75% of the wall.
- Over Furniture – The art should be three fourth the width of the furniture and hung 6"-12" above the top.
- Gallery wall/Stairs Wall – On these walls you can group together picture frames which are of same size or varied size. But lay the artwork layout on the floor first and check how best they can be put together so that they follow symmetry.
- Picture Frame size - Photo frames of 5x7 and 8x10 inches are ideal for desk or on tables. While frame size of 20x24 and 24x28 or so on are for wall depends on the size of the wall.
