One such factor is the kitchen. The kitchen is an important part of any household. Some families might have less or more time to spend in the kitchen to cook and eat. Also, the preferences for design and equipment required might vary from family to family. There are a number of options available these days for modular kitchen fittings and tech-savvy facilities. Considering the requirements and priorities of one’s family while designing the kitchen can save one from daily labour and uplift the daily chore of cooking, serving and eating. It is not advisable to compromise on the amenities of the kitchen as our busy scheduled allow a little time to spend in the kitchen and everyone would like to save time through organising things well.
Proper ventilation is another factor on which one should not compromise. Access to sunlight and fresh air is important for our mental and physical health. Also, it keeps the house fresh. Closed and confining spaces can be bad for health as well as the day to day mood of the people. Air-conditioning and lighting can complement but not replace our inborn requirement for access to nature.
Ventilation and appropriate design are also a must for the bathroom. In case there is any leakage or seepage, it needs to be fixed before one decides to move into the house. These can be ugly to look at and also bad for health as it leads to dampness. Earlier is was sufficient to have basic facilities in the bathroom. But, with a number of options available in the market, one can choose for fittings and fixtures to make the bathroom a pleasant and convenient place.
A property should also be analysed from the safety point of view. Some housing societies and developers claim to provide 24x7 security services with CCTV coverage. But it is important to cross check these claims and ensure that it is safe from the threat of theft. Even if the entry and exit points of the property are manned, some secluded area inside or outside might be prone to incidences of chain snatching. Or there might be cases of breaking in while there is nobody at home. This is important especially in the case of working couples whose kids stay at home without them during the day. Thus, security must not be compromised upon while selecting a house.
People pay premium prices to have a view of greenery from their houses. While everyone might not be willing to pay more, they should not neglect this factor. Wide open spaces with greenery are not only a pleasant sight, they are also good for our mental and physical health. Parks provide us with common spaces where we can interact with our neighbours and also with nature. Kids need open areas to play, cycle and run around. It should be taken care that access to open, green areas is not compromised upon. A small park catering to a largely residential area would not solve this purpose entirely.
