Everyone wants to own a property, a self owned piece of home. The feeling of moving into your own home is unmatched. Your responsibility does not end after taking the loan and paying the down payment. There are certain points that you need to keep in mind before moving into your own house.

  • The first and foremost responsibility after you decide to move into your own home is to inform your landlord at least a month prior. This will buy your landlord sometime to find another tenant or make up mind to sell the property. If you leave the property in a hurry then the owner will have to leave the property with the caretaker for a while.
  • The joy of moving out to your own place is unmatched. Even though the money required to pay to the movers and packers and the physical fatigue is nothing compared to the feeling.
  • Before you move out of the house, make sure to inform your landlord about the faulty cables or pipelines, if any. If you are the landlord, make sure that the additional repairs will fit in your monthly budget.
  • If you are moving to a gated society, then you will have to pay monthly maintenance charges. You are also expected to take part in the functions and get together organised by the community and will also be expected to actively take part in them. While not everyone is very social, there are certain things you cannot avoid. There are some obligations that are meant to be fulfilled.
  • One major advantage of living in a rented house is the freedom that you enjoy. This point is not understood in large scale. When you live in the rented house you have freedom to follow the lifestyle of your choice. You don’t have to worry about what your neighbours think about you. If your neighbours do not approve your lifestyle, then you have the freedom to move out and shift to the place where people understand it. When you have your own house, you have to follow the code of conduct and the lifestyle that does not disturb or bother others.
  • While owning a property gives you a sense of pride, it can also make you live hand to mouth. The monthly EMI, household expenditure and monthly savings can tie your hands. It will be difficult and will hit your financial balance if someone asks you for any financial help.
