Furnished, semi-furnished and fully-furnished are among the most common terms in the real estate sector. And buyers or tenants at times do get confused with the terms while selecting units.

Hence, the buyers or the tenants need to understand the difference between the three kinds of apartments.

So let’s understand the difference:

A furnished apartment: this at times becomes confusing to understand. Furnished apartment refers to such that comprise of cabinets, modular kitchen, shelves, cupboards, lights and fans. If you are looking for something more then you need to connect with your landlord and try to convince him or her to provide something more like an air condition within that budget. However, there is no mandate that the owner has to provide all these amenities

Semi-furnished apartment: as the name suggests, these kinds of units comprise of minimal or we can say basic amenities like lights and fans. However, these units might or might not have shelves or cupboards.

Fully-furnished apartment: the apartment which consists of all the amenities that includes air-condition, geysers in bathrooms, kitchen stocked with groceries, a refrigerator, a microwave, regular kitchenware along with bed sheets in the rooms, extra towels as well as a telephone connection. In short, the apartment should be like a full-fledged hotel room.

Although these terms are apt for a tenant but a buyer should also know. A tenant needs to clearly understand the differences and set their budget. A fully-furnished apartment is difficult to find out in the cities but semi-furnished and furnished ones are still easy to get. Majorly furnished apartments are available in the market.

But the three categories also differ in terms of pricing whether it is for rent or sale. Usually, there is about 10 percent to 15 percent difference in the rental rates of a semi-furnished and a furnished apartment. Whereas the rental value for a fully-furnished apartment is on a higher side and especially meant for business travellers or people with a good budget. Generally, the demand for fully-furnished apartment comes from foreign tourists who wish to stay for the long or medium duration.

So if you are a tenant then furnished apartment make more sense as you will get all the basic amenities. However, it might cost a bit more but if you are planning to stay for a short period of time then this is it. The furnished apartment could also be a good option for students.
