1. Avoiding sharp edges is a must. Add character to the room by chamfering those edges. This could very well translate into a geometric form based theme for the room.
2. Avail the benefit of digital technology. An audio system for the night will instantly intimate you if they are in trouble.
3. Safe heights. By age six, most kids are able to safely use bunk beds and loft beds. To prevent them from falling off, be sure upper berths have safety rails on both sides and that the mattress sits well below the top of the rail.
4. Avoid night time injuries. Install carpets on bunk bed stairs to give kids more traction as they come down in the middle of the night. Sensor-based night lights are enough to guide them without fully waking them up.
5. Precariously hung objects. Avoid hanging heavy frames and mirrors above the bed. Also ensure that all wall hangings are secured well with screws and brackets.
6. Block the holes. Kids of a certain age love poking around and their innocent mind doesn't let them discern between the good and the bad. Use socket covers to keep plug sockets from such probing fingers.
7. Cater to the electrical. Secure all dangling lamp cords to prevent injury from pulling on them. You could do this by going for a concealed system or opting for a short distance between the plug point and the fixture.
8. Don't curb the monkey act. Let your kid freely run about. For your peace of mind, anchor all those loose pieces of furniture to walls to ensure that there is never any dinger of tipping.
9. Children love sitting on the floor, and a laminated floor will ensure they won't be uncomfortably cold while they're doing this. Just ensure you pick an anti-slip product. What's more, the material is easy to maintain: just clean with a moist cloth every day.
