A house needs positive energy to be a happy house and bring success to its residents. When not tended to properly, over time the yang (positive) energy can become stagnant and stale and attract yin or negative energy. To enjoy good fortune, the yang energy within the home must be kept strong and vibrant by replenishing it constantly and keeping it moving. Negative energy can be overcome by infusing the afflicted sector or area of your home with fresh yang energy that is full of vitality. Vastu and feng shui consultant Rashi Gaur gives you simple tips to get rid of negative energy.

1. If there are young children running around happily in the house, their laughter will uplift the energy of the house. But if the house is full of adults, where most or all the family members are working, chances are that the energy of the house will become stagnant. Open the doors and windows as much as you can and let the breeze or sunlight in. You will experience a shift in energies immediately.

2. To dispel the illness energy, use the ‘singing bowl’ to create sound. This helps if the residents are prone to falling sick frequently. The bell used in the prayer room can also be used to dispel the negative energy. Take it around the house in a clockwise direction while ringing it. It’s a great antidote to bad health. Similarly metal wind chimes can be hung in the North, West or North West zone of the house to uplift the stagnant energy.

3. According to feng shui, keeping happy pets like dogs can bring a lot of good energy into the house. Their happy barks and wagging tales can bring good tidings into the house. One of the best times of the year to adopt a pet is spring time.

4. Lighting incense is one of the best ways to attract good energy. Scented candles and aroma oils also work wonderfully to replace bad energy with the good one. Lighting camphor, especially during the dusk hour is a great way to uplift positive energy through its aroma. Aromas like sandalwood and lavender have amazing healing powers. Use them liberally with the help of diffusers.

5. If the house generally stays silent through the day, it is a wonderful ritual to play music at least once a day. Let the music percolate the silent zones of the house and get the stagnant energy moving.

6. Water features such as a water fountain running in the house creates good energy too by filling the air with the soothing sound of falling water, creating a calm and relaxed environment. Not only that, water also brings career success to its residents.

7. Be aware of the garbage in your house. The bad smell of garbage can seriously interfere with good energies. So promptly get rid of your garbage on a regular basis to keep bad energies away.
