Are you confused how to use patterns in your interiors? Let’s take a look at how to put patterns together and ease out your space.

  1. Do not go overboard while using geometric patterns in the interiors. If you have a liking for bold patterns ensure that it is used in a limited way so that it does not overpower the space.
  2. Contrasting pattern in different colours is another way to highlight a space. One point to note here is that you should not use the same colour or pattern. You can use one light colour for the wall and the darker one for the flooring.
  3. Balance a small space with different patterns in small doses. For example, diamond pattern for the wall, cushion covers in light circular pattern and the rest of the space can have a plain colour.
  4. Get a magical feel using a single geometric pattern all over the space. This keeps the space tight and gives it an interesting touch. Opt for a bold pattern here if you wish.
  5. Black and white polka dot patterns can be used on small furniture. Since this is a bold look keep the colours surrounding it sober and simple.
  6. If you are using geometric pattern for the floors, make sure the colour matches the rest of the interiors. For example, the flooring, ceiling and walls can be of the same hue.
  7. Restrict the floral patterns to the upholstery, cushions and curtains. You can use the same pattern and colour in a light hue to give a soothing effect.
