The biggest problem when planning an interior is the placement of the washbasin in the dining hall. Washbasin shouldn’t be very near or very far from the dining hall. The washbasin must be at sufficient distance from the dining hall. Vastu expert S.K. Mehta gives simple tips to place the wash basin at the right position in the dining area.
- The washbasin should be slightly covered instead of being open. Transparent glass or partition on the side of the washbasin is much better.
- The washbasin in the dining hall is not only used to wash hands, but it also enhances the beauty of the dining area. Nowadays, there are washbasins available in different ranges. So you can choose the colour, size and design according to the direction and location of the dining hall. Opt for a round shape washbasin in the North and West direction, and square or rectangular in the South and East zone.
- Since mirror is hung above the washbasin and water forms an essential part of the washbasin, it is better to place it in the North or East direction of the dining hall. While putting the washbasin in these directions, keep in mind that if it is to be mounted on the wall, ensure the washbasin is not too heavy or with counter. If you have to put a wardrobe type in the wall, then a washbasin with big counter is a better option.
- Do not place the washbasin in the South or West direction of the dining hall. If there is a washbasin in your home in these directions, then immediately remove the mirrors attached to it to reduce the vastu defects.
- It is not good to have washbasin under the staircase area. If there is a compulsion to place a washbasin under the stairs, ensure there is false ceiling near the washbasin to get rid of vastu doshas.
- A small cupboard is needed to keep essential stuff like hand wash, towels, near or beside the washbasin or at the bottom or top. If such an arrangement has to be done, place this in the South or West direction of the washbasin.
