According to a Chinese saying, if you have two pennies, buy bread with one and flowers with another. Bread will give you life, and flowers will give you a way to live. Flowers are considered to be a symbol of freshness and happiness in China and Japan. Colourful flowers, apart from roses, also play a vital role in strengthening the relations. So for a healthy lifestyle, give flowers – natural or artificial – a place in your home, says SK Mehta.

1. Place a vase made of glass or bone china in the West section of the house and decorate it with white or cream flowers as this direction is connected to a child’s happiness and progress.

2. Use a terracotta vase to place pink roses or sunflowers in the South West part of the bedroom for a happy married life.

3. In the North part of the house, place a metal vase with blue or white flowers. This leads to a better and successful future, where the career is concerned.

4. Keep a cream coloured vase filled with yellow flowers in the South East section. This augments positivity in this section, thereby bringing an influx of money.

5. Since using water in the South East section, which is also called the fire corner, may cause vastudosha, use artificial flowers in this zone.
