Having a neat and clean space incorporating a design element can be a tricky business. Architect Mrunmayi Wadwekar shares tips to help you attain these features with space saving furniture.
- Furniture with built-in storage such as bunk beds, storage beds, etc, helps to save space in a house. These give a nice look and feel to the space while concealing stuff neatly inside. Small storage ottomans in bright colours and unique prints can instantly liven up a room while accommodating knick-knacks.
- Benches with storage can serve as shoe racks. Drawers and compartments under the staircase is another option to save space and store necessary stuff.
- You can also opt for single furniture that can serve different purpose at different times of the day. For example, a foldable sofa can become a bed at other times.
- Large book cases can serve as partition unit, adding a design element to your house. A convertible wall bed can otherwise be hidden within the wall. Another idea is to have racks to store odds and ends inside cupboards.
- Nesting table is another form of furniture that can be folded to become one unit. These look like one unit but can be expanded for multipurpose use.
