Sometimes, it feels like no matter how much you try, there’s something or the other that’s constantly bothering you: general dissatisfaction, monetary pressures, hurdles in success… There’s a good chance that vastu doshas may be to blame for your problems. These doshas may be a result of lack of attentiveness or laziness, which can be corrected with small steps, says expert SK Mehta …

1. The position of a room is important. The kitchen should be in the South East direction; the owner's bedroom in the South West zone and the guest room or unmarried daughter's room to the North West. The space in the centre is considered powerful and increases positive energy – which is why it should be empty relatively empty and spacious.

2. Be patient while looking for solutions. Check if you are getting results and only then move on to the next step. Avoid starting a solution on a Tuesday, a no moon day or days that are considered unlucky.

3. Start with small changes that do not involve heavy changes such as renovation and reconstruction. Once the results are evident, only then proceed with major changes. Vastu doshas increase during renovations, leading to accidents. So be cautious and avoid travel involving long distances.

4. A slope is considered quite important in the vastu of a house for both internal and external sections. If the slope is in the North or East direction, it is considered lucky. People living in houses with slopes in these directions are able to solve problems easily and quickly.

5. Ensure that the house is a square or rectangle. In special cases, a round shape is also considered suitable.
