Chandeliers are statement pieces and often associated with wealth and royalty. They can be used at homes to grace the entrance foyer or adorn the living room or above the dining table. The ancient chandeliers have evolved to suit today’s modern living and are available in various styles. Shami Goregaoker, Project Manager and design strategist, GA design gives tips to use chandeliers in different ways to up the style quotient and suit the ambiance of homes.
- The most important thing to consider before installing a chandelier is the size of the room. Having something too big or too small can result in a disproportioned look in your space.
- You must also ensure that the source of light in the chandelier is not easily visible and does not shine in the eye. If the bulbs are exposed, you should consider adding a dimmer or use bulbs with frosted or milky glass.
- For a modern minimalist look, you can opt for chandeliers with clean lines and a minimal amount of ornate decorations.
- To achieve the vintage look, you can choose a traditional chandelier with ornate glass and crystals. You must remember that the style and finish of the chandelier should complement the finishes in the rest of the room.
- Lighting manufacturers are not coming out with LED fixtures for chandeliers. With the advancement of technology it is sometimes difficult to tell the difference between LED fixtures and traditional incandescent ones.
