A good night sleep makes a person healthy, confident and energetic and its importance cannot be stressed enough. Unhealthy sleeping pattern creates chronic health disorders, which can be dangerous in the long run. While there are umpteen benefits of timely naps, one needs to create an ambience to sleep well. Sonam Gupta lists five ways of creating a sleep-happy bedroom.

  1. Spreads and beddings: It is important to pick mattresses that help you wake up without any discomfort. Choose the squashy ones that are termite resistant. Pillows, bed sheets and spreads should be clean and well maintained.
  2. Threads: Cotton is preferable for summer season. Chaste cotton based soft furnishings are essential in summers because of its numerous benefits. Not only is it organic and skin friendly but also soft, light weight and comfortable. Cotton infused fabrics let the skin breathe and does not trap heat. Always opt for linen and cotton beddings, pillow cases, bed sheets for comfort reasons.
  3. Tints and hues: Fresh and subtle colours like lavender, lime, mint, beige, cream, coral pink and cyan blue are in trend. These alluring shades also add an invigorating vibe to homes.
  4. Fragrance: To create a sleep-inducing environment, aromatic therapy works wonders. Lavender, jasmine and vanilla are also in vogue. These sweet smelling oils reduce anxiety and create a rejuvenating experience, thus stimulating sleep.
  5. Window drapes: A dark room with negligible lights is essential to create a powerful sleeping experience. Bright lights disrupt sleep thereby immensely disturbing the brain. Pick thick curtains in light colours that do not trap heat but evades light completely.
