Having a balcony in your apartment is a blessing in today’s trend of match box houses. We live in a country rich with natural resources, so sunlight, rain and fresh air are fun to enjoy outdoors. Shami Goregaoker, Project Manager and design strategist, GA design lists simple ideas to perk up your balcony for the summer season.
- The one thing without which a balcony is incomplete is greenery. Balconies look fresh with lush green plants which can be displayed in colourful ceramic pots to add a dash of colour. To accommodate a large number of plants, you can use planters of various heights or stack them vertically or have them perched on a rail.
- Hanging plants, creepers and bird feeds brings the outdoors inside. Comfortable seating can be a great addition to your balcony.
- A smaller balcony doesn’t mean you can’t have seating. Maximize space by hanging plants on the rail or planters from the ceiling. A couple of chairs and a table to enjoy your morning cup of tea, or a bench with colourful cushions to laze around completes the look.
- For balconies that are not too small, a swing or a hammock can induce a feeling of ultimate relaxation. You can add a dash of quirky lighting to create an intimate look.
- Even if your balcony is small, you can still open the doors and let the outdoors in so that the whole room becomes an outdoor space.
