To have a fresh cup of coffee everyday, it is important that the coffee maker is maintained well. Keeping the coffee machine unclean for a long time will result in trouble later. Ramesh Chembath, Business Head – Kitchen Appliance, Usha International gives you simple steps on how to take care of your coffee maker.
1. Dusting the coffee from the machine after every use is important. Dust gathered on the heating element, inside and outside the machine can be removed efficiently with canned air.
2. To clean the heating plate and coffee pot, salt and lemon juice or vinegar and water solution can be used. The lime juice solution works wonders to remove burnt coffee remains that are left at the bottom.
3. The metal filters or baskets need to be soaked in vinegar and hot water solution. This will remove the coffee residue accumulated in them. Remember to rinse it well to get rid of the vinegar odour completely.
4. If you are using a machine that has a coffee filter, ensure that the filter is changed regularly. Using distilled water for your coffee restricts lime scale buildup to a great extent.
5. If you notice any cracks in the cord or pot, ensure it is repaired immediately to avoid injuries.
