Summer is all about holidays and relaxation. Designer Deeksha Khatree gives us tips to make our home ready to welcome summer, freshness and life.
1. Colours: This summer, paint you walls with light and warm colours like sky blue, light green, pink, yellow and cream. If you want to save money, you can opt for wallpaper or stickers too. This will revive the entire look of your room.
2. Furnishings: You can ditch leatherette and leather as they are quite warm. Instead, go for linen and cotton fabrics and floral prints for sofa, bed sheets and curtains. Cushions in vibrant colours are a great idea to bring in the summer cheer indoors.
Flowers and floral fragrances are a tried-and-tested way of welcoming summer into your home. This could be in the form of cut flowers, flowering plants, aroma sticks and even prints on fabric.
3. Flower power: Plants and flowers add natural beauty to homes. They also clean the air. If you have a centre table, a decorative vase with fresh flowers will spread freshness and add life to your room. To get a feel of outdoors and stay close to nature, get home flowering plants like hibiscus, roses, kari palm, mogra and champa.
4. Child’s play: As summer means holidays and recreation time for kids, make sure that you have machine washable fabrics around the house. For uninterrupted fun, make their summer time more useful by giving them projects that revolve around natural materials like seashells and pine cones. Their artwork can act as a decorative showpiece as well.
5. Refreshing scents: Relax your senses this summer with fresh scents. So it is time to get those scented candles and sticks out. There is nothing more refreshing than walking into a fragrant room after a tiring and hectic day.
