Feng Shui, the Chinese science of space, dates back hundreds of thousands of years. It is based upon the premise that the universe is governed by different elements and when an environment is created to enhance the smooth flow of energy by channelizing these elements properly, we create 'chi', in other words, a constructive flow of energy. There are 5 kinds of elements that define Feng Shui: Earth, Water, Fire, Metal and Wood. With the following tips, we can create a constructive flow of energy rather than a destructive flow and ensure good tidings into our lives.
- Earth: This governs South West Zone. It's a family zone and it's a good idea to have photos of those you love, in this zone. It enhances relationships. South West is also the zone of the Matriarch, the mother. Hence it is important that this zone is enhanced with the right element. Earth also governs the North East zone, which is the zone for knowledge, meditation and praying, it is a good idea to paint this tone in earthy tones. It will bring peaceful thoughts to the residents.
- Water: This rules the North direction. By placing a water body here, we are able to enhance career success. You can choose an aquarium, create a pond if you have a garden here or even place a fountain. Water is a taboo, however, if we have a bedroom in this zone.
- Fire: This element stands for fame and governs South. Having fire elements and bright colours in tones of red in the South Zone can help you find recognition in your work place.
- Metal: Metal is an element that belongs to West and North West. By using metallic tones here such as gold and silver, we are able to enhance the mentor luck (the luck of helpful people) and the luck of the patriarch (as North West is the zone of the patriarch). It is crucial that this zone is not cut or missing.
- Wood: This governs East and South East. Planting trees and plants here enhances the wood element, which, in turn, enhances growth and prosperity and brings wealth. A water feature can be placed in this zone as well. The rule of the bedroom applies here too.
