Canopies are among the architect’s favourite contemporary architectural trend. For new design concepts and concerns, architects are opting for aluminium over steel. Architect Alok Bhagat reveals the reasons for this shift.
- Non rustic: Steel canopies are painted to cure it from any rust. It is a known fact that no matter how hard you try, the material can still corrode. On the other hand, aluminium does not rust. Also, a quality material like aluminium can last for a good seven to eight years.
- Internal drain installation: If you are making the installation at a wider space of your farmhouse or apartment, another major concern is drainage. Aluminium canopy system supports your design to drain internally. It makes sense to your home architectural feature, and no damage across the canopy is experienced due to the drainage system.
- Lightweight: Aluminium is a lightweight element that makes the installation process easy compared to any other heavy material, especially steel.
- Pre-finish work is possible: The prefinished work of aluminium design can be done, ensuring that time is saved. You can cover it with HPL sheets, hang glass on the top etc. With aluminium and technology, things can be made possible.
