The options available to create partitions are plenty. However, the most important decision is choosing the right material as per the requirement of the space. You will be spoilt for choice as there are trendy, modern, unique and fashionable choices on offer available within your budget, says Deeksha Khatree.
1. Sliding doors with simple and elegant laminates and veneers, or glass (either stained or having etched designs) are the simplest way of dividing space. With glass, you have the added advantage of light filtering through spaces.
2. Designer walls can be created by hanging boards in different colours, textures, sizes, styles, etc.
3. For a slightly different but earthy look, opt for partitions that use raw bamboo.
Homes don’t always need space-gobbling walls to segregate functional pockets. Depending on the degree of privacy and visual connectivity required, you can use string/beaded curtains, sliding doors, display partitions (full or half) or lattice screens as means of dividing space.
4. A TV cabinet (rotatable) is visible from both, the drawing and living room is another great idea to create a partition.
5. Placing a crockery chest between the living and dining room, will functionally segregate the two functional pockets.
6. For a more ethereal look, try sheers as a dividing element that's there but not quite there.
7. Use an open shelf as a partition; this can be used to display collectibles and books.
8. Attractive tapestries, textiles or artwork, sandwiched between glass, will make for a stunning partition.
9. MDF panels with intricate designs and jaalis will make a stylish 'wall'.
10. The market is replete with movable folding screens, should you want a partition without going through the headache of creating a more permanent device.
