The bed is your little area that you love to sink in at the end of a long, tiring day. The place where your body recovers and rejuvenates to be able to face the world again the next day. Is it not vital then to ensure that this little private space of yours is perfect in every which way? And that’s the reason you need to be careful about the kind of bed and where it is placed in a room -- for both these factors impact your health and happiness, says Vastu and Feng Shui expert Rashi Gaur.
1. We are dealing with a new age factor of having ensuite bathrooms, a situation which we can’t get rid of. So it is important to ensure that while the bathroom is connected to the bedroom, let’s not place the bed on the wall that is a shared wall between your bathroom and bedroom. If that is absolutely impossible to do, place a wooden plank between the bed headrest and the wall to create a screen between the two. Do remember that sharing the bathroom wall with your bed headrest will come in the way of peace and success.
2. Make sure that the bed is not sandwiched between the two doors. It leads to a lot of unrest and you won’t feel peaceful at night.
3. Do not let a mirror reflect your bed as it will not only lead to a poor sleep pattern, bad health but also can bring a third party into your marriage. The big reflective TV screen is also like a mirror.
4. The best wall to have your head rest towards is the south wall. If south is not possible, one can choose the east wall. If it is a diagonal house, then choose a wall towards South East or South West.
5. A window by your bed side can bring a lot of positive energy to you. Do remember to open the window for a few hours every morning to let the good energy flow in. If the window never opens and curtains are never drawn or blinds never pulled, you can end up creating a lot of stagnant energy which will turn the good chi to bad chi.
6. While it is a good idea to have a window by your bed side, it’s not advisable to have a window behind your bed. We need a solid wall behind the headrest as or else you will always feel the lack of support in your life.
7. Choose a bed made of good quality solid wood. Teak is a perfect example. Do not opt for wrought iron.
8. Make sure that the bed is never placed under an overhead exposed beam. This will totally weigh you down and you will feel undue pressures and stress in your life, eventually leading to bad health.
9. Ideally the ceiling shouldn’t be slanting but if such is the case, then place the bed below the higher side of the ceiling and not the lower side.
10. The space under the bed should always be clear for the energy to be able to flow around it. If you must have a bed box, let it be higher than the floor. And remember; do not place utensils, unwanted items, books etc in your bed storage. Clothes and linen are fine as long as they are organized well.
