If you are interested in arts and crafts and believe in kabaad se jugaad, here’s something interesting for you. Namrata Pareek, art and craft expert shares some of her items created which she used in enhancing interiors.
1. If you have old tyres lying around your place, fix it together and cover with a velvet cloth. Decorate the top portion with crochet work.
2. Another low budget makeover for your house is a little fountain. You can use an 8 inch pipe generally used for boring purpose as the base for this fountain. Place a broken pot, bowl shaped utensil or a small vase above this. Paint all these things in maroon colour to get a unique look. Then add artificial flowers and a small pipe. This can be used as a water source. The tap is linked to the kitchen water source. The waste water from RO can be used for this fountain, which additionally acts as a water source for the birds as well.
3. Collect broken pots, buckets, plastic boxes and paint these in whatever colour you wish to. You can use yellow colour paint for the boxes as this wouldn't get washed away with water. These pots can be kept outside even during the rainy season. Create faces using fabric colours on the pots. Finally decorate these pots on the staircase to enhance the interiors.
4. To convert your window into a bird house use waste material like wooden ply and decorate it using colourful paper. The roof of the bird house can be made out of an old wedding card. The objective of this bird house is to give it a more natural look rather than an artificial one.
5. A simple yet attractive painting made from plywood cut into three pieces and decorated with fabric colours can be used on the walls as beautiful artwork.
6. The LCD in the bedroom is covered with normal white paint and leaves made from cloth. Glass pieces have been used for decoration.
7. This artistic mirror is a simple round-shaped mirror decorated with beads and glass pieces in round shape. The straw used here has been made with an old calendar that is decorated and covered with an old saree lace. Pearls and glass pieces make this décor piece even more attractive.
8. This ceiling light is basically a beer bottle without its lower portion. Light fitting wire has been embedded in this bottle with a holder fixed to it. This colourful bulb has an elegant feel to it. A round plastic plate has been used to hang these bottles together and is further decorated with lace.
9. To create a kathakali keychain holder, a cardboard with a white sheet has been used. The face has been drawn on the white sheet and then been painted with fabric colours. This is then nailed and fixed on the wall.
10. To create this beautiful butterfly, use colourful papers and fold it into a butterfly shape and paste it on the wall. Keep the size of the butterflies varied.
