Are you planning to give a makeover to your landscape? There are different ways to achieve this easily... like using foliage, adding layers of greenery with potted plants, etc, says landscape designer Nandita Kwatra.
1. This garden gets a decorative touch with an earthen urn, a bench, urli and a heavy wrought-iron table. A stone pathway leads to the back entrance and the corner is adorned with greenery and a water element.
2. To give a rustic yet decorative touch, randomly arranged stones and birds in fibre glass have been placed near the water body.
3. The trunk of an old tree at the corner of the garden is decorated with potted plants. You can utilize the space between the dead wood to place pots of various sizes to add life to the wood.
4. For a picturesque setting, place a pot under an arch created with leaves on the border wall.
5. Use large stones, terracotta pots to beautify an uneven part of your garden. Two similar terracotta pots, one straight and another kept at an angle gives an interesting twist to the space. On the other hand, the assorted leaf colour, shapes and large stones fill up the brown area with greenery.
6. Make use of artefacts at all levels. A stone lamp placed in the mud bed with variants of grass around it lends height, while the hanging fern and tulsi brings variety at different levels.
7. Each level of the area outside the house has been used like a garden with variants of bonsai placed on individual steps.
8. The fencing wire has been put to good use with tiny potted plants, while the width of the boundary wall is adorned with plants placed in different sizes of pots.
9 & 10. Create a three-dimensional effect in the garden with shelves and paintings. A single bonsai adds a royal touch to one of the shelves. For an interesting backdrop, create a bamboo wall and keep plants in varying heights to fill up spaces.
